Alcove wardrobes are designed to fill the recesses either side of a chimney breast or between two walls — turning unused dead space into a purpose-built bank of storage that looks original to the room.
Because the cabinetry is scribed to the existing walls, ceilings and skirtings, an alcove wardrobe disappears into the room rather than standing in front of it. Pair the doors with the same paint as the wall and the wardrobe seems to vanish entirely.
